Pennsylvania governor's antitrust lawsuit regarding Penn State football penalties dismissed.

Before oral argument in this case, I wrote about the opportunistic antitrust lawsuit filed by the Pennsylvania governor against the NCAA regarding penalties the NCAA divvied out to Penn State in light of its 2011 football scandal. The governor filed the lawsuit under antitrust law, which made absolutely no sense, particularly because the governor did not have standing to bring the lawsuit in the first place. The fact that this lawsuit had no merit betrays the political motivations behind it. The governor would have known this, and only brought the lawsuit in order to gain favor with his constituents. The lawsuit was dismissed this morning.
